The city of Muscat is the destination for the 2023 World Veteran Championships; play commences on Sunday 15th January and concludes on Saturday 21st January.
A splendid location, most importantly one that is most accessible.
Currently, no less than 73 airports have direct flights to Muscat (MCT); that is 70 cities in 33 countries.
Simply consider the month of June; the facts underline the status of Muscat in the airline world.
It is estimated that during the current month no less than 2,877 flights will land in Muscat; that is 96 flights per day, four flights per hour, one every 15 minutes!
Equally, major airports have direct flights, from the west Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Milan and Zurich, from the east Kuala Lumpur and Manila.
Notably from London, the furthest west, the direct flight takes seven hours and 25 minutes, from Kuala Lumpur just over seven hours.
Meanwhile, if no direct flight is available, Istanbul now a major hub airport provides the answer; a distance of 2,093 miles (or 3,368 km) flights to Muscat are just under five hours.
Flights from Istanbul operate 13 times a week, an average of two flights per day.
